Overview

About the Department

Banking Supervision carries out on-site and ongoing supervision of licensed banks. The Banking Supervision team comprises professionals with a financial services academic background, but also legal and IT professionals to support policy and supervisory work.

 

About the Role

As Junior Analyst you will be responsible for the following main duties:

  • Monitoring, quantitative and qualitative assessment of data submitted by credit and/or financial institutions to the MFSA;
  • Liaison with relevant stakeholders including credit institutions, the ECB, the EBA and others in connection with ongoing and/or ad-hoc tasks;
  • Support and active involvement in exercises/projects undertaken by the Data Team (planned and ad-hoc), including both in-house and those with European Supervisory Authorities (EBA, ECB, other);
  • Testing of Banking Supervision data processing and validation systems;
  • Support the creation of BI dashboards;
  • Support team’s participation in local/EBA/ECB working groups, as well as other European regulatory bodies as may be required;
  • Support general office administration

You will also be expected to undertake any other duties that may arise depending on the exigencies of Banking Supervision and the Authority.

 

About You

We are looking for candidates with background in Banking, Finance, Accountancy, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or in a related subject.

The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

Having experience working in the area of financial services, especially within compliance and/or data, will be considered an asset. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role, or with proven knowledge of Excel and Business Intelligence Tools (such as PowerBI) will be preferred.

If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least five (5) years of relevant experience within the financial services environment, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
