Overview

About Risk Management

The Risk Management function is responsible for analysing and mitigating risks within the MFSA. The function provides strategic input and guidance on the authority’s risk appetite and ensures that it is compliant with the requirements set out by the European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs). In addition, the Risk Management team is also responsible for ensuring that the MFSA’s internal processes and procedures comply with European Standards. They also offer recommendations for improvement from a risk and quality perspective.

About Role

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Participating in risk assessments in accordance with the Risk Management plan, as well as assisting with other matters and projects;
  • Supporting with the identification, analysis, and management of risk incidents, and providing ongoing support to key risk functions;
  • Supporting the ongoing enhancement of the Risk Management Framework, policies, and procedures;
  • Assisting in risk assessments in line with the organisation’s Risk Management Framework, while contributing to related initiatives and ad hoc risk projects;
  • Communicating risk insights and assessment outcomes effectively to senior management, including the preparation and delivery of clear, concise reports and presentations;
  • Providing second-line risk support to business units, ensuring consistency with organisational risk appetite and tolerance;
  • Promoting and embedding a strong risk culture across the organisation through collaboration, guidance, and awareness activities;
  • Supporting critical changes and fostering a collaborative, forward-thinking culture within the organisation;
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of business continuity plans to ensure the organisation’s operations can continue during and after any disruptions;
  • Maintaining ongoing professional development to remain current with risk management standards, frameworks, best practices, and emerging methodologies.
  • Leveraging data analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI, Excel Power Query, and other business intelligence platforms to support risk analysis, execution, and reporting;
  • Undertaking other ad-hoc related duties as may be required by the Head of Function, and Management Team from time to time and reporting on the outcome of such assignments as may be appropriate and necessary.

About You

We are looking for candidates with solid academic background in Risk Management or in another related background. The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level. You will also possess a minimum of five (5) years working in a similar role.

If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least ten (10) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.

The chosen candidate is expected to be a confident individual who is flexible and proactive. The following skills and attributes are important for this position:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data.
