About the Department:
The Finance function oversees and manages the finances of the Authority, supporting the various other functions within the Authority in all financial matters, including the preparation of timely management information, revenue collection, payments to suppliers and service providers, payroll and financial control and budgetary control. The function also sets, monitors and improves the operation of the MFSA's financial control framework, ensuring compliance with established policies and controls. It co-ordinates with the Statutory Auditors on the annual audit of the Authority's Financial Statements drawn up in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards and is also responsible for the timely submission of required statutorily financial information to Parliament.
About You:
You are in possession of an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level in Accounting, Finance, or in another related area of study.
If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least five (5) years of relevant experience in a related area, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
About the Role:
The selected candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
a. Posting of Supplier Invoices – Posting of invoices in the correct cost element and cost centre while ensuring alignment with procurement;
b. Updating the Fixed Asset Register and ensuring that this reconciles to the General Ledger on a monthly basis;
c. Processing of Payments - Preparing invoices and other documentation with all the necessary approvals for payment;
d. Posting of Supplier Payments, Reimbursements, Travel allowances and Journals on Sage;
e. Carrying out Bank Reconciliations on a monthly basis;
f. Carrying out Reconciliations of Supplier Statements with Sage;
g. Updating and compiling reports on excel, as necessary;
h. Assisting the direct line manager in the closing of the monthly management accounts and any other ad-hoc tasks as required;
i. Updating and compiling reports on excel, as necessary.
