Technology is at the core of the knowledge-based organisation. It enables MFSA's strategic and operational objectives to be achieved efficiently and effectively.
The Technology team leverages cutting-edge technology, industry standards and methodologies to provide reliable services to the rest of the organisation and the financial services sector interacting with the Authority electronically. It is responsible for; technology design, information security, development, integration and delivery of all information and communications infrastructure, platforms and services, working with technology vendors and partners.
The Technology team is made up of professionals specialised in relevant areas that include governance and planning, infrastructure and service management, information systems, and security. Officials from Technology also participate and give their contribution in several European committees, expert groups and industry fora.
About the Role
As a Junior Assistant, you will be contributing towards the day-to-day duties of the IT Infrastructure and Security team and will be working on the following tasks:
• Supporting IT Operations Assisting with day-to-day IT infrastructure tasks such as system monitoring, basic troubleshooting, and user support. Helping to ensure smooth operation of hardware, software, and network components.
• Implementing Infrastructure Procedures Following established procedures for system access, data handling, and equipment usage. Supporting the team in applying these procedures consistently across the organisation.
• Assisting with System Maintenance Helping with routine maintenance activities such as software updates, patching, and hardware checks. Assisting in keeping systems up to date and performing efficiently.
• Monitoring System Performance and Alerts Tracking basic system alerts and performance indicators. Helping to document issues and escalating them to senior staff when needed.
• Supporting IT Tools and Platforms Assisting in the setup and configuration of IT tools used across the organisation, such as collaboration platforms, endpoint devices, and network services.
• Assisting with Risk and Vendor Reviews Helping to gather information for assessments of internal systems and external service providers. Supporting the team in organising findings and understanding which areas need attention.
• Learning and Development Participating in training and self-study to build knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems administration, and support practices. Staying informed about new technologies and tools.
• Maintaining Effective Working Relationships Supporting the team in fostering positive and professional relationships with suppliers, internal colleagues, and external customers. This includes clear communication, timely follow-ups, and a helpful attitude to ensure smooth collaboration and service delivery.
• General Team Support Working closely with team members to support ongoing projects and tasks. Communicating clearly, staying organised, and being ready to assist with ad hoc requests. Reliability and a willingness to learn are key.
About You
You are a dynamic team player who is energetic and motivated to contribute with creative solutions.
You will have a passion for Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, or related fields, and are currently in the stage of obtaining a qualification in the relevant field at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.
