Technology is at the core of the knowledge-based organisation. It enables MFSA's strategic and operational objectives to be achieved efficiently and effectively.
The Technology team leverages cutting-edge technology, industry standards and methodologies to provide reliable services to the rest of the organisation and the financial services sectors interacting with the Authority electronically. It is responsible for technology design, information security, development, integration and delivery of all information and communications infrastructure, platforms and services, working with technology vendors and partners.
The Technology team is made up of professionals specialised in relevant areas that include governance and planning, infrastructure and service management, information systems, and security. Officials from Technology also participate and give their contribution in several European committees, expert groups and industry fora.
About the Role
As software quality officer you will be assigned to carry out work which will include the following duties:
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of automated unit tests for software applications;
• Diagnose software problems and guide users through solutions;
• Monitor software systems for performance and uptime;
• Maintain documentation of incidents and resolutions;
• Supporting QA processes including test planning, design, execution, and documentation;
• Writing and maintaining scripts in JavaScript, C#, and Python for testing and support automation;
• Collaborating with developers and analysts to understand requirements and ensure quality standards;
• Participating in code reviews and contributing to the maintenance of the existing code base;
• Identifying and documenting bugs and issues using test management and bug-tracking tools;
• Supporting the deployment and monitoring of applications in test and production environments; and
• Assisting in other tasks as directed by the Team Leader.
About You
The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or widely recognised qualification at a comparable level. Possession of a qualification in the areas of ICT or a related subject would preferred.
You will also possess a minimum of three (3) years prior experience in a related area. Candidates with longer experience relevant to the role will be preferred.
If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications, but you have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
Software testing certifications and scripting experience would be considered an asset.
Core Competencies:
• Basic experience with C# .Net and scripting in JavaScript and Python;
• Understanding of unit testing frameworks such as NUnit and XUnit;
• Familiarity with test automation tools such as Selenium;
• Exposure to REST API testing and basic SQL queries;
• Good understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end testing;
• Experience with test management and bug-tracking tools;
• Willingness to learn and grow in a QA and support role.
