Overview

About the Department

Conduct Supervision is responsible for setting up, implementing and supervising the regulatory framework for consumer protection in the financial services industry. Its goal is to ensure that clients of licensed entities are treated fairly, honestly, and professionally. The function takes a proactive approach to supervision, identifying potential or emerging risks to financial services consumers. It also involves ongoing monitoring to strengthen and verify the adherence by regulated persons to their conduct of business regulatory obligations. Conduct Supervision is a cross-sector function that covers under its remit the supervision of firms providing services to retail clients in the context of the provision of services relating to banking, insurance, pensions, investments, cryptocurrencies, and retail collective investment schemes.

About the Role

• Contribution to and eventual Implementation of a Financial Literacy Strategy at EU Level which is aimed to be adopted by Q3 2025 : In order to follow up and adequately implement relevant parts of this strategy, additional support is essential to meet deliverables and ensure seamless execution. 

• Participation in ESAs Joint Committee Sub Committee on Consumer Protection and Financial Innovation and other international committees with respect to Financial Literacy and following up on initiatives taken by this Committee.

• Engagement with other Departments within the Civil Service to effectively promote and manage partnerships with the relevant departments financial literacy and: Collaboration to more effectively and drive joint initiatives.  

• Represent the MFSA in EU programs relating to Financial Literacy 

• Identifying, planning and Implementation of MFSA Financial Literacy Initiatives and Outreach including reaching out to new strategic partners to plan and implement new initiatives relating to financial literacy.

• Management and co-ordination of MFSA’s Internal Financial Education Committee to ensure that the Authority continues to deliver on its commitment in the area of Financial Literacy Initiatives on an ongoing basis.

• Undertake any other tasks as delegated by the Head in line with the exigencies of the Conduct Supervision and the Authority. 

About You

The role calls for an individual with a passion for financial literacy in possession of an academic qualification in the relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level. You will also possess a minimum of 6 years of work experience within a relevant area. 

If you do not have the necessary academic or professional experience qualifications, but you have at least 10 years of work experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you. Candidates with longer work experience relevant to the role will be preferred.
