Overview

About the Department

The FinTech Supervision Function within the Supervision Directorate of the MFSA is responsible for the supervision of the Virtual Financial Asset and Financial Institutions sectors in Malta as well as providing cross-sectoral expertise on digital finance and FinTech-related policy and supervisory initiatives. The Function is also responsible for the development and implementation of the MFSA FinTech Strategy and Regulatory Sandbox. 

About the Role

As a Senior Analyst within the Crypto team of the FinTech Supervision Function the you will be expected to:  

  • Serve as a senior contact point for Authorised Persons; engaging in direct communication with these stakeholders, reporting findings, and promptly addressing any issues that may arise; 
  • Engage and address any regulatory issues that may arise in the normal course of the Authorised Persons' business to ensure that the level of compliance with applicable regulatory standards is maintained; 
  • Review and draft memoranda to be presented to the relevant decision-making bodies within the MFSA; 
  • Managing team members, ensuring the appropriate distribution of work tasks and the achievement of the set KPIs for the individuals and for the team, and that processes are efficient and effective; 
  • Engage in the formulation and implementation of supervisory procedures, actively proposing enhancements to streamline efficiency and elevate the standard of quality; 
  • Lead initiatives in the supervisory workstreams under the Virtual Financial Assets Act and the Markets in Crypto-Assets Act as may be required, and in other related ongoing work; 
  • Liaise with the various Functions and Directorates of the Authority in the handling of the various projects and tasks, as well as other Governmental bodies and act as point of contact, when required; 
  • Participate in local, EU, and international fora, including the relevant committees of the European Supervisory Authorities; 
  • Undertake any other tasks or projects as delegated by line management, depending on the Authority's exigencies; and 
  • Act as a digital finance and FinTech champion within the MFSA. 

About You

We are looking for candidates with solid academic background which may be considered as relevant to this post. The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level. 

You will also possess a minimum of five (5) years working experience in the area related to the role. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred. If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least ten (10) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
