Overview

About Department

The Finance function oversees and manages the finances of the Authority, supporting the various other functions within the Authority in all financial matters, including the preparation of timely management information, revenue collection, payments to suppliers and service providers, payroll and financial control and budgetary control. The function also sets, monitors and improves the operation of the MFSA's financial control framework, ensuring compliance with established policies and controls. It co-ordinates with the Statutory Auditors on the annual audit of the Authority's Financial Statements drawn up in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards and is also responsible for the timely submission of required statutorily financial information to Parliament.

About the Role

The following are some tasks you will be involved in:   

a. Processing of Payments - Preparing invoices and other documentation with all the necessary approvals for payment;

b. Processing of Reimbursements – Obtaining the necessary documents and approvals for reimbursement to employees;

c. Posting of Supplier Payments, Reimbursements and Journals on Sage;

d. Carrying out Bank Reconciliations on a monthly basis;

e. Assisting the direct line manager in the closing of the monthly management accounts and any other ad-hoc tasks as required;

f. Updating and compiling reports on excel, as necessary;

g. Assisting other team members in their workload, as necessary.

About you

You ideally have a Diploma in Financial Services, Accounting, Banking, Marketing, Mathematics, Law, Operations Management or any related discipline, OR a comparable recognised related qualification at NQF level 5 duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC).

The candidate should possess the following skill set:  

  • ability to multi-task and work on own initiative with minimum supervision; 
  • be a self-motivated team player and able to adopt various roles within a team; 
  • excellent verbal and communication skills; 
  • ability to prioritise and deliver under pressure; 
  • highly IT literate; and 
  • sound analytical and judgemental skills compiling reports of a high standard.
