Overview

About the Department

The FinTech Supervision Function within the Supervision Directorate of the MFSA is responsible for the supervision of the Virtual Financial Asset and Financial Institutions sectors in Malta as well as providing cross-sectoral expertise on digital finance and FinTech-related policy and supervisory initiatives. The Function is also responsible for the development and implementation of the MFSA FinTech Strategy and Regulatory Sandbox.

About the Role 

As an Analyst within the supervisory team of the FinTech Supervision Function you will be expected to:

  • Provide deliverables (including for the preparation of inspection reports), implement standards, contribute to the supervision of regulatory requirements and assess financial institutions and crypto-asset service providers’ performance and risks;
  • Take part in meetings with licence holders officials during the course of onsite inspections or in anticipation and as a follow-up to such onsite inspections;
  • Assist the Line Manager in preparing reports for top management review;
  • Share information and assist other sections within FinTech Supervision as well as other functions within the Authority;
  • Supporting the authorisation and supervisory workstreams under the Virtual Financial Assets Act;
  • Assisting a team of analysts with research and data analysis;
  • Compiling supervisory information for statistical purposes;
  • Coordinating with Supervisory Units, FIAU and Subject Persons;

About You 

We are looking for candidates with solid academic background which may be considered as relevant to this post. The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

You will also possess a minimum of three (3) years working experience in the area related to the role. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred. If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
