Overview

About the Department

The Financial Stability function is responsible for identifying and assessing risks that have the potential to spread within the financial sector and the real economy (systemic risks).  Through its own macroprudential research and analysis of the financial sector, which covers the banking, insurance, and securities sectors, the function contributes to the formulation of policies aimed at mitigating identified risks.

 

About the Role 

As a Junior Analyst within Financial Stability you will be responsible for the following job accountabilities:

  • Assist a multidisciplinary team involved in the identification and surveillance of current and emerging risks such as cyber risk;
  • Assist in the development of data infrastructures, analytical and modelling tools, utilising both quantitative and qualitative techniques such as econometric modelling with time series, and the setting up of questionnaires and indicators.
  • Prepare technical and analytical reports;
  • Contribute to the MFSA’s publications in the area of financial stability;
  • Undertake other tasks/duties as directed by line management.

The selected candidate is expected to be able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines, be able to work on own initiative and have attention to detail. Any knowledge of statistical software such as Python, R and SQL would be considered as beneficial.

 

About you

You have an academic qualification in Statistics, Mathematics, Financial services, or in another related background at National Qualification Framework Level 6 (MQF6) or better. If your qualifications are not from Malta, please make sure that they are certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

You also have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

Candidates with working experience relevant to the role may be preferred.

If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but have at least five (5) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
