About the Department

Conduct Supervision is responsible for the setting up and implementation of the regulatory framework aiming to secure appropriate consumer protection in operations of licence holders in the financial services industry. The Conduct Supervision section is a relatively newly formed team which is projecting growth as it is gradually assuming a cross-sectorial function inter alia covering under its remit supervision in conduct of credit institutions, insurance entities and investment firms.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented individual to join an ever-growing Conduct Supervision team. The main responsibilities of the selected candidate are including but not limited to the following tasks:

  • Applying a Risk-Based Approach in the monitoring of the promotional efforts of the Regulated Entities, to ensure that the regulatory requirements in this regard are being complied with;
  • Assisting in carrying out an assessment of the disclosures being made to clients/customers of regulated entities to ensure that these are fair, clear and not misleading;
  • Conducting reviews on the periodic Conduct Related Returns submitted by regulated entities to ensure compliance with the Authority's reporting standards;
  • Assisting in extracting, collating and circulating data from regulatory reports collected by regulated entities, directly to European Supervisory Authorities;
  • Developing dashboards using Microsoft’s Power BI Tool, that summarise the Conduct Related Data collected from the Industry via the Supervisory Returns;
  • Carrying out ‘ad hoc’ assignments related to specific regulatory and supervisory issues that may arise from time to time;

About You

We are looking for candidates with solid academic background in Economics/Statistics or other relevant field of study in finance. The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least five (5) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you. Qualifications and/or working experience with Microsoft’s Power BI Tool or another Data Management Tool is considered a plus.

The following skills and attributes are important for this position:

  • Interest in the areas of Consumer Protection and/or Regulatory Reporting;
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills;
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking; and
  • the ability to work in a team.

The preferred candidate will be given various opportunities to learn and be trained for the role, through various mechanisms which the Authority holds such as the Financial Supervisors Academy and on the job training.
