About the Department

Banking Supervision carries out authorisation and supervision of licensed banks and credit intermediaries. The Banking Supervision team comprises professionals with a financial services academic background, but also legal and IT professionals to support policy and supervisory work.


About the Role

As an Analyst at Grade 7 within the Authorisation team of the Banking Supervision Function you will form part of a dynamic team reporting to the Deputy Head Authorisations.

You will be expected to:

  • Assess and process applications for authorisation, extension of licence and change in control for Banks, Credit Intermediaries and Credit Servicers;
  • Act as a contact point with applicants/prospective applicants and promoters, supporting MFSA Functions and the European Central Bank, corresponding directly with these counterparties, reporting findings and resolving issues as they arise;
  • Draft and present papers and memoranda to the relevant decision-making bodies within the MFSA;
  • Provide inputs on policy and the drafting of related rules, circulars and guidelines.
  • Liaise with the various Functions of the Authority in the handling of the various projects and tasks, as well as other external bodies and act as point of contact, when required;
  • Participate in local, EU, and international fora, including the relevant committees of the Central Bank of Europe and European Supervisory Authorities;
  • Process Passporting requests; and
  • Undertake any other tasks or projects as required. 


About You

We are looking for candidates with experience within the financial sector, preferably in Banking.

The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

You will also possess a minimum of 3 years working experience. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred.

If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least 7 years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
